Principal's Message
Mrs. Sparkle Tiffith
Welcome Back CMB Families,
Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year! We hope you all are doing well and staying healthy and have had a relaxing and fun summer break! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.
Obtaining a good Education, is one of the most important keys to becoming a successful citizen in today's society. When students are provided with a high quality of education, it is guaranteed that they have the necessary tools and skills needed to become a productive asset to society. Therefore, it is my belief that children should be afforded the opportunity to acquire a high quality of education. Having a Good Education has the benefit of raising one's mindset, self-esteem and socioeconomic status. It has been proven within today’s society that a person raised in poverty who is provided with a high quality education, or a strong educational foundation can overcome economic hardships by advancing their educational status.
Our mission is to inspire every student to think, to learn, to dream, to achieve, and to care. Our vision is for all students to obtain the necessary knowledge, skills, and self-motivation to become lifelong learners, socially responsible citizens, and active participants in their ever-changing world. Our focus for this school year is to intentionally plan for small group instruction to make sure that students master basic skills lost during the pandemic.
Teachers will be engaged in new learning within the next few weeks. Our instructional priorities will be on intentionally planning and providing differentiated and small group instruction to all students. This includes both subject areas: reading and math. Teachers will use student academic achievement data to assist with planning small groups based on each student's individual needs in the areas of reading and math.
On Saturday, August 20, 2022, District 149 will be hosting a Back to School “Lotta Palooza” at Caroline Sibley School located 1550 Sibley Blvd, Calumet City, IL 60409 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We Look forward to seeing our families attend.
District 149 has a specific “Uniform Policy” for all our students. The students are not permitted to wear jackets in the classrooms. Students are to wear light blue tops and navy blue bottoms. Sweaters and/or sweatshirts must be navy blue or light blue. Additionally, boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
We look forward to seeing all of our children on Monday, August 29th for the first day of school, which is a half day of student attendance from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30th is the first official full school day from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Students will be served breakfast in their classrooms after arriving at school. Due to the new safety protocols, students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:45 a.m. As many of you know, the safety of our students and staff is one of my top priorities. Therefore, all students will participate in a light backpack check to ensure that students do not bring inappropriate objects or items into the school.
We are pleased to inform you that Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, for the 2022-2023 school year. Schools that participate in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.
We recognize it is a privilege to serve you and your child/children. We know that partnering with parents will assist with ensuring academic success for students. Therefore, let's remain committed to student achievement! Let’s make it another great year at CMB!!!
In partnership,
Principal Sparkle Tiffith
